About

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

This kind of therapy aims to help understand how your current difficulties might have roots in your past.

We will work together to understand why you might be feeling depressed, anxious, unfulfilled or have issues with sleep, food, body image or relationships.

It may be that you have a specific issue you wish to explore such as a bereavement, trauma or abuse. I provide a safe and inclusive environment in which to do this.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a well researched and NICE recommended treatment for PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), C-PTSD (complex PTSD caused by multiple childhood traumas), addiction and phobias. EMDR is an eight phase treatment that aims to remove the blocks to psychological healing caused by trauma, for single event traumas this may happen in a few sessions.

Starting Therapy

After an initial phone call or email we will arrange two consultation sessions to give you a feel of therapy and see if this might be the right approach for you. These last 50 minutes and are usually a week or two apart. The initial consultation fee is £65. In these sessions we will discuss what has brought you to therapy, what is happening in your life right now and what kind of therapy might best suit you. We can think about what events have occurred during your life, what your family was like and how your relationships are now. In addition to addressing your emotional state we will think about practical details such as the time and day of ongoing sessions and set a fee. It is an opportunity to ask questions and discuss any worries you might have about starting therapy.
